For several weeks now,in Januarary, the Mexican border officials have stopped the passage of Belizian busses at the border. A gamma ray screening process that was closed on the weekend was the problem. This forced the passengers to walk across the Friendship Bridge to Subtiniente Lopez. Mexican transportation was available at that point. After much publicity and public protest the press officer for the Mexican Embassy in Belize, Marcelino Miranda announced that the weekend bus schedule to Chetumal had resummed and Belizian busses may pass through the border at Subtiniente Lopez.
